Nadiah Alyafai
Nadiah Alyafai is a Yemeni American, born and raised in Chicago Illinois.
Growing up, she was very politically involved in her community, working towards a liberated front. With this background, she started off her career in political science, assuming that was her passion.
However, soon realizing that she longs for a means of creativity, she quickly switched paths.
In 2024, with an encouragement and supportive family by her side, she achieved a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Education in the Arts and Professional Writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
Through her time at UIC, her work replicates her passion, advocating for her community and archiving their histories. Each piece she depicts her peoples beauty, struggles, and fights.
Understanding the importance of writing and art culturally in her community, she is insistent on the continuation of advocacy for her communities wants and needs.
